Track speed work with some tempo and faster efforts mixed in.
Followed a big refuel then a longer bike set on zwift this afternoon, including a bit of threshold work to keep things interesting 💫

This time building up on the 10mile TT’s I have been doing, I decided to step it up to distances I feel more comfortable at, whilst not as long as I will be doing later in the year, a 60k TT is more than enough of a stepping stone.

Unsure on how I would fair over the longer stuff, I just rode off the back of high confidence of the midweek 10 result.

Boom!
Distance: 60.7km
Time: 1:28:15
Power Output: 274w =3.9w/kg
Average HR: 157bpm (81% maxHR)

Provisional finish position: 9th

Tried the free sample of @revviesenergy energy strip that the @komfuel team sent over with our last order.
I had this at half way and it was a nice subtle kick to keep my concentration from waning in the final few km.

The Outlaw Triathlon
I was fortunate to have been mentored by the winner and current record holder for the event @kit_walker_tri. It was a huge boost to my confidence as in 2013 I could swim 3 lengths in less than 45 mins, let alone even contemplate a full distance triathlon. Like many I have missed the thrill and excitement of race day. Be it a sprint triathlon, 5 mile TT, 10k road race or even the much loved @parkrunuk.
I would like to tackle that race again one day and beat that time 14:57:13. Not an earth shattering time but that’s my time abs my goal was sub 15 hours. So mission accomplished.
During this end lockdown, like many I haven’t been feeling great. Moments of anxiety and dread. So it took my a while but I looked back at all the great races and achievements I have done and drew on those experiences to help set my mind to things will get better, we will race a again. So get out and walk run or ride and stay local. Like @sethjamesdemoor says “ Onwards and upwards “
